AL Sufouh Beach (2026) : Where Dubai Drops Its Guard and the Sea Takes Over

Al Sufouh Beach or the so-called Secret Beach or Black Palace Beach is an undeveloped and peaceful coastline in between the Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah. It is greatly appreciated because of its bare and natural beauty and the perfect views of the Dubai iconic skyline.

Not all the great beaches of Dubai are accompanied by a resort. Sufouh Beach is an evidence of that. Whereas the rest of the city is in a frenzy to construct the next high end waterfront adventure, this small piece of untainted sand has been a breath of fresh air. No entry fees. No velvet ropes. No crowded sunbeds. Just the point of the Arabian Gulf, the big blue sky overhead and the most jaw dropping setting you‘ll ever see, with the Burj Al Arab towering over you to one side, and the Palm Jumeirah gracefully spreading out on the other.

Where Is Sufouh Beach?

The Al Sufouh Beach is in the Al Sufouh road in the Al Sufouh district of Dubai which is sandwiched between the two most recognizable structures in the city, the Burj Al Arab to the south and the Palm Jumeirah to the north. It borders on quite a quiet stretch of coastline, which lies to the east of the Madinat Jumeirah resort and the open sea to the west.

It has a nickname of Black Palace Beach because of the dark-gated royal palace that is seen on the shoreline. Its name of the Secret Beach, however, is fully justified as over many years, it went unnoticed as tourists moved to Jumeirah Beach or JBR which was much closer.

When to Visit: Timings & Best Time of Year

There are no gates or closing time and the beach is open 24 hours all 7 days of the week. But daytime visits are highly encouraged.

My preferred time for sailing is early morning (6:00 AM 9:00 AM) when the air is fresh and the sea is still. I also like the late afternoon (4.30 PM until sunset) when it is most lovely in the golden light over the horizon and of course the Burj Al Arab.

Do not go out at night. There is no lighting source at all in the beach, thus, making it unsafe and impractical during late night visitations.

What Makes Sufouh Beach Truly Special

The reason why Sufouh is the only beach in Dubai that has none of the others is not just what it has but what it doesn‘t. No silly beach clubs, no entry fees, no tourist traps. Instead, you get the very thing that is becoming increasingly scarce in this city; authenticity.

This is what makes it special:

  • Clear skylines vistas An elevated perspective of the Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm and the Palm Jumeirah all in a single location.
  • Uncultivated, natural shoreline, Fine goldy sand, with a very natural feel.
  • Light, smooth water for Good family, amateur swimming.
  • Beautiful sunrise and sunset scenes, The shore to the west is such that it provides fantastic sunset scenes.
  • The very feeling of escape, Miles away the bustle and the people of commercial beaches of Dubai.

It is the type of beach upon which you can spread out your towel, gaze upon the horizon and forget that you are in the midst of one of the most glittering cities in the world.

How to Reach Sufouh Beach

It is easy to reach here, and the beach is not promoted by glittering signs, which is an element of its beauty.

  • On foot: Take Al Sufouh Road (D94) and find a tiny sandy road between the walls of Royal Palace. Enter Type Black Palace Beach in Google Maps and it will get you there. Prepare to go off-road several meters.
  • By Metro: Ride a Red Line, and stop at Dubai Internet City Metro Station, then take a speedy taxi to the beach.
  • By Bus: Take bus F56, along Al Sufouh Road. You might also have to walk or take a cab ride to the entrance.
  • Via Taxi/Careem/Uber: The simplest one. All you need to do is to drop the pin on Google Maps and you are ready.

Things to Do: Activities on the Beach

The casual, unpretentious nature of the atmosphere should not mislead you, though, there is much to entertain at Sufouh Beach.

Swimming: The shallow and smooth water is the best place to relax and have a swim. This sea is usually clean and less congested than some of the busy public beaches at Dubai.

Photography: This is considered to be one of the best places of photography in Dubai. With a burning sky at sunset, frame the Burj Al Arab and you will have a shot that seems to be too good to be true.

Yoga & Meditation: A lot of early morning patrons take advantage of the serene environment to do some yoga or have some time to reflect.

Jogging & Walking: The beach provides a nice walk to do in the morning. Combining the sea air and skyline views makes it much more enjoyable than any gym treadmill.

Fishing: Here local fishermen are frequently to be seen. There is recreational fishing and this usually happens in the morning hours.

Kite Flying and Frisbee: With a clear area and an assuring sea breeze, this beach is ideal in kite flying, or Frisbee or simply letting the kid run around.

Conclusion

In a city of superlatives and spectacle, Sufouh Beach is a quiet place to find a contrast, a moment of stillness, a true interaction with nature, and one of the most beautiful coastal views available in the entire world. This beach is the perfect place to visit whether you are a resident seeking your new weekend getaway or a visitor seeking to explore a different side of Dubai that most tourists fail to do, in the most nonchalant, memorable manner.
